Community and Junior colleges offer two year associate's degrees.

Four year colleges offer bachelor's degrees.

Yes, you can choose to pursue a BA after earning an AA. In fact, for some people, it's a great stepping stone between high school and four year college.

A community college is as reported above, a stepping stone to larger and greater effective issues. pupils decide directly to do some years at their interior of sight community college because of the fact they the two desire to shop money, earn some greater credit for college sooner or later, or greater effective their uncomplicated skills so they are in a position to be greater effective arranged for a 4 12 months college in some years. nearly all of scholars flow to a school after 2 years or so at a CC. that is lots greater fee-effective than a 4 12 months college because you pay via the class. Their is a campus yet there at the instant are not any dorms or housing or a meal plan. CC's are super whilst you're in economic problems. you would be getting a sturdy training whilst you shop up money for the destiny.

That is the difference? About $40,000 per year in salary when you graduate.

Community colleges are two year schools. You can go to a four year college after graduating. It is nearly impossible to get into a top private university (e.g., ivy league) after community college -- but a good student will be able to get into a decent state university.

You can gt an associates degree from a community college -- but the degree is really meaningless. Someone who goes to to community college for two years & gets a job has an AA. Someone who goes to Harvard for two years, gets a 4.0 and gets a job is a college dropout. Who has the better education -- the one with the degree or the dropout?

Most community (junior) colleges offer AA degrees (the 1st 2 years of a 4 year - bachelor degree.) You would be taking the same general education classes that you would be taking at a 4-year university. They also offer AS degrees. These degrees are designed to get you out to the workforce...most of the classes are degree specific, and you would not get the general education classes required for an AA(English Comp, Speech, Humanities, etc.)

The "4" in 4-year colleges used to refer to the number of years it would take you to complete a degree. Most students take longer than 4 years to complete their BA/BS degree.

With either the AS or AA degree you can transfer to a upper level (that's what we call it) university to complete your BA/BS degree. With the AA degree you will have all the required general education classes to transfer. With an AS degree you will have to take the rest of the general education classes (but most of my students that are doing this are already using their AS degree and working.)

To make it even more confusing, in Florida some Community Colleges are now offering BA degrees!! Yikes!!

A community College is almost always only 2 years some people go to them to get better at a subject and you can only get you associate's degree and A 4-year college is where you can get a bachelor's degree and abovr if you stay longer.
