Settlers of Catan Expansion Games.....?

Question

Can you combine the Seafarers with the Cities and Knights game or only play one or the other? If you can play both what parts do you omit etc?

I believe you could just put the knights and cities board with the extra sea and land pieces in seafarers just like you would with the original game. It shouldn't be too hard to do, but it might not play very well.

We tend to just throw it all together in one glorious mess, although we often leave out the exploration rules.
