That depends. In many cases getting information you understand demands asking the right questions that must be understood. In some ways you cannot have one without the other.

I think it all depends on the reasoning behind it or the needs that are causing one to need to be understood or understand, I think that before we can be understood we must have some understanding.

Depends on the situation, if you are giving orders or teaching then you need to be understood. If you are learning or taking orders you need to understand. We will never understand all things, I understand that.

In my humble opinion, we will never be fully understood. That no longer saddens me. Yet I am always beating myself up to try and understand others. I feel it is more important to understand than to be understood.

I think it's actually better to understand, because when you understand, you're giving that to another person. Being understood is impossible, especially if you're a weird aquarian, like me!

If you cannot understand how can you expect to be undestood? Understanding in all areas of life is crucial, understanding yourself and other people is fundemental to life. A one hundred percent understanding is impossible to achieve so don't dwell on it, although the more you try to understand other people, the easier it will become to express yourself and to give understanding to other people.

Both are equally important. whats the point of understanding things when you can't actually share the knowledge.

i think it is important that one needs to understand things, people, situations, in order for them to be understood and for them to comment or offer advice, constructive criticism or whatever. its one thing to listen and take on board what he/she is saying but its also another when one does act upon it. its also one thing saying something and to actual mean it and remain true to yourself. this question reminds me of one where is it more important to be seen, rather than to be heard, seeing as it does resonate and have familiar undertones ringing to it
