I hate them too. I still flinch and get all tense when I have to have a shot or blood drawn and I'm in my 30's! It doesn't really hurt, it just pinches and you feel a sort of pressure. Just don't look at the nurse when he/she does it. That makes it hurt. If you are that scared, take someone (like you mom) with you for support.

Not really. I hate needles too, but it feels like someone is pinching you a little, that's all. A good thing to do is find out which arm is easier to find the veins in, that way it is easier for them to draw the blood, especially if someone without much experience is doing it. You will be fine though. Be Brave, and good luck!!!

Yes, you can bring your mummy. I always take my close friend. Don't be afraid to hold their hand tight and don't be afraid to cry. But, it really doesn't hurt enough to make you cry. It really doesn't hurt, but it will sting and you might feel some pressure. Try the following tips:
1. don't look at the needle at any point
2. don't move your arm, keep it still
3. take some deep breaths
4. take someone with you and hold their hand
5. talk to whoever is with you and have them distract you
6. do whatever the nurse needs you to do
7. wiggle your toes (it distracts your mind)
8. have some sort of reward planned for yourself for being brave
9. ask to lay down
10. be BRAVE, it will be over in a matter of seconds.

Good luck to you and you'll make it!!

Yes they usually allow you to bring someone with you, no it's not going to hurt. Just look the other way and NO MATTER WHAT do NOT jerk your arm away. You'll end up with more than one needle stick in your arm if you do...not to mention that if you aggravate the phlebotomist you may end up suffering more than necessary. I worked with some that were a bit vengeful if the patient wouldn't cooperate.

I hate needles too.I found out some places you can actually tell them you pass out at the site of needles & you want their BEST to draw your blood. You can also ask for smaller needle than the standard. If ya tell them you passout easily they will accomodate better.

Having blood drawn feels like having your ears pierced. Most hospitals and clinic's will let you bring somebody to be there for you. Word of advise don't watch, it will only freak you out. I just had blood drawn today. Don't worry you will be fine.

It just feels like a pinch, and is quick. Just don't look while they do it. And yes, you can take anyone you want with you.

It will pinch for a couple of minutes but the pain won't be much. "No pain no gain"!
