Jewelry is special but why are you so insecure about him buying a nice gift for your mother? He simply thought that if you liked nice jewelry, so would your mother.
I would think you would have thought he did a nice thing for your mother. I am sure your mother was ecstatic about it.
Don't slam him about this gift. He may do it again! Think about it this way...your gift was more special to him...he will get to see it everyday!
If you have concerns, teach him how you want him to buy gifts!
Good luck and enjoy your husband!

Yours will be another one of those questions/answers that I will print out and make sure that I give to my sons. You see, I want them to have some idea of just how shallow, silly, selfish and self centered people can be in life. I hope to cause them to really think about these things when they start to date and look for a mate.
TY, for very possibly helping me help my sons find a good mate, and recognizing those to stay far from or eliminate from consideration.

A dimond is a piece of shiny rock that is not even rare. If it was rare (like the diamond dealers want you to think) you wouldn't have seen it on almost EVERY WOMAN on earth. It is rare allright!
Why can't you be happy that your husband spent ridiculous amount of money for stupid shiny piece of rock both for you and your mom?

I think it is pretty nice. Every woman deserves diamonds, I'm sure your mom loved it. Talk to him about it, but it's your mom, Hello... Tell him how it made you feel, but I'm sure he didn't do it to make you feel that way. Ok? Sounds like you have a good husband, congratulations.

Your husband may not understand the importance of diamonds, but your mother certainly does. Talk to her and see if she'll return the bracelet for a more appropriate gift. If she won't, keep your eyes on her.

Are you insane? She is your mother, for Pete's sake!
Why would that make you any less special? He still got you the more expensive set, doesn't that prove you're more special? Even if it had been the same set, who cares? You're the one he's sharing his life with, not her! Is the only way you can know you're special is because he spends money on you? In my neck of the woods, we call that a golddigger.

You sound a little jealous. Men are clueless and you are just going to have to let this one go. Be thankful that he bought something so beautiful for you and also thought so highly of his mother-in-law.
Another thought..
Men hate shopping. More than likely he was shopping for you and in his mind he was killing two birds with one stone, by picking something up for your mom.
One thing though, the price of a gift has nothing to do with the thought and you should be ashamed for reacting the way you are.

Oh my,get over it! It's a frigging piece of metal and gem. I hate how girls are so materialistic. Wow, I'd never want or expect my boyfriend to get me some expensive piece of jewelery, it's so tacky and superficial. Quit being a spoiled brat and jealous of your mother. He has the right to get something nice for your mother, even if it's more expensive than what he got you. Be grateful that he even got you anything.

I guess the REAL question is: Am I really that self-centered?
He bought something for your Mom; not your single sister that always checks him out at family functions.
OMG!!!! Maybe you should leave him, he was nice to your mom.
If this makes you feel "less special" than maybe you should seek professional help.

A beautiful woman on a man's arm is like jewelry on a woman. Woman without jewelry is like a man without a beautiful woman. Different woman like different styles of jewelry: big diamonds, small opals or red sapphires. Men like different types of woman: heavy woman, slender woman and dark hair or light hair. Explain to your husband that he likes it when you look beautiful for him, and it gives him pride when he is with a beautiful woman. Tell him it's the same with you. You like nice jewelry because it makes you feel beautiful, and it makes you feel especially special when he is the one to give it to you. I don't know if your feelings are "right" but that's the way you feel. You feel jewlery is an intimate gift that only a lover gets his love. Use my explaination and he'll understand better.
