It would be books I read when I was a kid.
I would become absorbed in the story and in my mind I would
be there, imagining, the actual places, the smells and entire experience, I often hated for stories to end and would mentally continue the stories way past where the author ended.

I don't have time to come up with a top 10, but I will give you a top 6:

1) Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance - Pirsig
Read in high school and it really taught me to live for the moment and enjoy every minute of life.

2) Tao te Ching - Mitchell translation
Best translation and version of the classic text I've read. As good an explanation for why we're here as any.

3) Cat's Cradle - Vonnegut
Love all of Vonnegut's work. Had to pick one.

4) Catch 22 - Heller
Very funny, sad, and thoughtful book. Plus, it's a classic.

5) Rule of the Bone - Banks
Read for first time in college and read it about once a year since. Coming of age book much in the same vein as Catcher in the Rye. Another of those books that teaches you to live for the moment.

6) Band of Brothers - Ambrose
I love all of his books. He is a master of providing a detailed history of the events while fully utilizing the words of the people who were there.
