I disagree with people who say that a lie is a lie or that all sin is the same. There are different degrees of punishment and consequence for different sins. Sin of any type however is something God seeks to remove from our life. The reason he does is because it is harmful to us and other people, as well as not giving credit to God. Maybe instead of lying you could have honestly said that the question(not the person) was rude. Perhaps if you could have approached the situation in an honest and humble way,God could have gotten glorified in your behavior.
I don't know exactly what happened in your case, sometimes it is just hard to pull of being honest, and we are just left to confess our faults to people and God. But if we desire to be honest and good to other people that is a positive way to live.

God never judges you "harshly" since He is fair. God knows quite well that sometimes all the choices we have are not perfect and we have to choose the least bad option. As long as you repent and not make a habit out of it, God will grant you mercy for sure and even forget the sin. Remember how he forgave St. Peter?
"19He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea." (Micah 7:19)
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."(1John 1:9)

There is no god to judge you. You judge yourself and need to do your best to be a good person.
In a rude situation where someone is asking inappropriate personal questions, feel free to not answer. Change the subject.
A white lie is a tool to be used wisely. It is okay, but some start to get a bit less white and tarnished. Don't do it often.

A lie is a lie and the guilt you felt is from the fact that you knew you should have not lied. In my opinion, if you dont want an honest answer, dont ask the question.

I don't know about harshly but you will be held accountable for the lie.you have to go to God In prayer and ask for his forgiveness and try very hard not to do it again.

No, I believe that God judges based on our "motives."
"Why" we did the things we did.
Not, necessarily, the "what."
Most of God's punishments in the Bible were due to the motives of the people. Even when Jesus was crucified. He said, "They know not what they do." ( Their motive)
I will always believe that what matters most to God, is the reason behind the action.

a lie is a lie... sin is sin... there is no sin that is worse than another, they all are an abomination to God... He hates all sin... but that is where forgiveness comes in if you ask him...
Maybe you should start telling them it is none of their business and to drop it and go on with your business...

You mean like if someone asks "Do these make me look fat?"
Of course "He" wouldn't. He doesn't want you being a blunt b*tch.
