Not a simple answer.

Sometimes the reason that our loved ones hurt us most is just because they are the ones we love. If a stranger did the same thing, we don't care as much about them, so it wouldn't hurt us.

But if you have been repeatedly hurt and keep "coming back for more," then you need to look at yourself and ask why. Do you have children together and think you should stay together for them? Then look hard at whether the children are better off with you together or apart. There are some things children shouldn't see. Do you think you'll never find anyone else? Or that you don't deserve better? Then you need to learn to love yourself enough not to need that love from someone else. Have enough respect for yourself not to allow someone to mistreat you.

At some point you need to just stop and think about the future, do you want to keep living this way and keep getting hurt? or do you want to break from all this drama and find someone who will make you happy all the time instead of unhappy? You need to see that even tough it is hard to move on that it doesnt mean you need to stay around that person and keep getting persuaded to get back with them, if he leaves you again then leave him back, hes not thinking about your feelings, hes thinking about his own and everytime you keep coming back he knows he has a hold over you, you need to quit trying to make believe that there is something there, and find the real thing. good luck

Good question, I am asking myself the same thing. But, you can't help who you love right? As long as you both genuinely want whats best for each other and are equally willing to help and work at making it better, than second, or even third chances should definitely be considered. Hope that helps even though I have no idea what the situation is! Good luck!

Well, I was in this boat.......so, the only thing that I can say that has worked for me, is to take time throughout your life and find yourself. Look at your pro's and con's, and accept it. He has hurt you, you know. But, you don't know it enough to stop running to him. You can't truly get yourself out of this on your own......someone else will come along and sweep you up off your feet, knowing he's the half that makes you whole, and realizing that you have to experience pain from other's to get happiness from yourself. Good Luck, and trust me, you will make it!!

I have been in the same situation for 13 years. I think we do it not only cause we love them, but we feel secure and hope that someday it will change. Just a tip.... mine still hasn't. Everyone tells me I deserve better and you do too. Talk to him about everything and if that doesn't change things then the best thing to do is to leave. If he really loved you he wouldn't hurt you so much.If you ever need to talk i'm available.

You didn't make it clear if they just hurt you once or if they keep doing it. If it was once and it hurt them too, learn to forgive and forgiveness is no easy path to walk but you can do it. If this person KEEPS hurting you, you are one sick pup and you need to find out how to cure yourself of masochism, which is an abnormal pleasure obtained from suffering pain.

Obviously you like being treated badly and until you decide that you deserve better, you will keep doing the same thing over and over again.
