Most times they see the family members they knew who have died. I have many stories of folks who have done that. They will sit up in their death bed and speak to someone or say a name and they die.
We have those who come to escort us back to the spirit world. She was probably awakened by that and didnt see YOU but was seeing who was there in spirit coming to get her.

I believe your gran knew who you were at that very moment.
The comments about "having the understanding of a baby" are not accurate. Many people that are near death have intact brain processes & are well aware of what is happening around them. It all depends on what their disease diagnosis is, & their current state of mind.
May you & your family be blessed with peace.

my mother died 2 years ago and i was constantly by her side till her last breath- i would say they know, i believe that there are out of there bodies already and they know when there going to die, my mom died on her birthday at 1212 and I think she picked that day by herself, my moms last reactions were wierd too, she was in a comma but somehow she lifted up her hand, as if she was giving a sign, and also she would have these grouling sounds comming from her once in awhile as if it were signs that she needed confirmation that were ok to let her go.
When I told my mother, that Im ok and I will be good after she goes then couple minutes later she died.
I believe that your Grandmother was there already with you watching her own body die. I know its sounds wierd but -read about it more and maybe you will find answers and also if you need to talk to anyone that lost someone so close , Im here for you and remember dont ever let go of them-and say a prayer for them:))

SHE KNEW YOU.
When a baby is born it has no knowledge of bad or evil. At the moment of death your grandmother saw only the good and beautiful in you.

I understand that you actually get well to die, I haven't a clue about not knowing your love ones. She knew you and it was you whom she wanted to see before she went away. it really brought her some peace seeing you there. And I'm very sorry you lost your love one

death is never easy to face. rest assured that your gran remembers you where she is currently. Before my grandfather died he did not know who I was & that hurt me so badly. However, I believe in life after death and I know that he knows who I am. I always reflect on our life together and that brings me much joy.

Yes, she knew who you were. I believe that at the moment of death we can see both worlds, this one and the hereafter with unsurpassed clarity. She not only knew who you were she could see that you loved her.

Leave your poor grandma rest in peace for gods sake, cant believe you are asking something like that. But in that case, it all depends what she was dying of, how old she was, etc... all of this modifies a person's ability to understand what surrounds her.
