Your best bet is to buy a NEW cable assembly from your local Buick dealer, as the plastic tends to get brittle with age. Also, when swapping the cable assembly, make sure to lube the hood release and springs, and make any hood adjustments so that it requires very little effort to open the hood when you pull the release. I have found this to be one of the biggest causes of hood release levers breaking!

Depending on how the handle is attached to the cable, you may have to replace the whole mechanism. A junkyard, ebay, or the dealer should have a part for you.
Or....you COULD jury-rig it so that it would open, but not necessarily LOOK normal.

You should take it to your local body shop and have them order a new cable and them let them open it to install it when it comes in. It should not take more than 1 hour labor to get the hood open and probably 1 hour labor to install the new cable.

you can go to junk yard or a salvage yard even your local dealership. all depends on how much you want to spend. junk yard and salvage yards are a lot cheeper then dealerships. my husband enjoys going to the junk yards and getting parts. and our cars are doing great. good luck

You can check an auto parts recycling center (aka junkyard). Or ask at a body shop. They have to get almost any kind of part now and then. They could probably install it for you too, if they're not busy.

Call your nearest local junkyard and ask them if they have any junk cars with this item intact. I think that would be your best and cheapest bet.
