Hate to burst your bubble, but read the Bible sometime if you want to know what Christmas is really all about. You can start by finding out when Jesus was born. You can read the entire Bible many times, but you will never find a birthdate for Jesus. It does'nt exist in the Bible. The 25th of December was chosen by the emperor Constantine at the grand meeting in Nicea, around 200 years after Jesus's death. The date of December 25th was adopted by those pagans that worshipped a different god. In order to convert these heathen to Christianity, their beliefs and practices were "Christianized." This, and other practices, helped create the modern beliefs of Christmas we know so well today. In other words, Christmas is a great lie.
Jesus did command us to do something though. In the last supper, the sharing of the bread and wine was done in which Jesus said, "Do this in memory of me." This was the only practice sanctioned by Jesus. All other practices of Christmas are really non-Christian.
Jesus never mentioned to celebrate his birthday. Some scholars think that he may have been born around late Summer, due to the weather conditions of that area in that time.
The same reasoning can be used for other American practices such as Easter, Day of the dead, etc. There is no foundation for these celebrations whatsoever. You may think I'm just being a grinch, or an Ebeneezer Scrooge (bah humbug), but as Jesus once said, "the truth will set you free."

Because I love Jesus. Presents are nice to get but I could get them anytime.
I love Jesus and enjoy having a day just for him. In my family we actually open most of our presents Christmas eve and spend the actual Christmas day honoring Christ himself.
Plus there is nothing better then the spirit of giving

I didn't even remember Jesus these days. I celebrate Xmas because I respect my family and because I receive money, that's all - a season to receive money. I don't need special dates to be kind and generous or to give presents.

To celebrate the birth of Christ.
Keep it simple, but gather my loved ones around me and simply stop the world for a day, celebrate that we can, and have.
I would cheerfully ignore all the darned commercial hype that comes along with it that is for sure, but then most of us feel like that I guess.

I enjoy the festivities of Christmas; everyone likes receiving gifts and being with our families...But I always keep in mind; Jesus is the reason for the season! He gave us the ultimate gift!

I know that it is supposed to be Jesus's birthday. I've never celebrated for that reason. To me it is about Love, Family, Friends, Giving and sharing, unconditionally.
