Women definitely have it harder. We feel more, care more, do more. In a relationship we take the greater part of the burden. We are the ones who give birth & we are the primary caregivers. We endure more physical pain (menstruation every month, even if you don't get pregnant it's no picnic), estrogen wreaks havoc on our emotions. We are expected to do everything that men do & to do everything else. Statistic show that married men live longer than single men but married women die sooner than single women. Why? Marriage is bad for women. Because women have to give so much of themselves, they wind up depleted. They have to care for husbands, children, the home etc. Men have it easy for the most part they are taken care of, the burden is off of their shoulder. There are exceptions but this is the rule & evidence would certainly back it up. Single women can focus on career & care for themselves without having to do everything else on top of that. Women are expected to "do it all." We aren't really equal with men. We are superior & we have to be to accomplish all that is expected of us. Women are better nurturers. We are better communicators (we say an average of 8,000 words a day whereas men say 2,000 or in my father's case he says about 3 words a day!) We often give much much more than we get back from our male partners.
That being said, I wouldn't want to be a man! I couldn't stand all that macho posturing & having to act like you have no feelings so that you seem "tough." Plus men's clothing is boring. You're so limited! Men can't wear makeup. It doesn't seem fun.
And I'm certainly not suggesting that men don't contribute anything. They certainly have a purpose & it's how we complement each other that makes a relationship so magical. But in general, women have it harder. Maybe that was God's punishment to Eve for eating the apple...

I think economic class has the biggest impact on how difficult life is. Gender does in many ways that are very important, but inability to feed yourself or your children must certainly rank as the most significant. Or being in a place of natural or manmade disaster (like a war zone).

Women(i agree with amp)
coz when a girl starts to have her monthly period it's totally a sacrifice!!! and when a woman gave birth...oh i can't imagine the feeling but mothers said that it's totally hard!!!!
unlike mens....
example: We have 2 very sensitive parts of the body unlike men they only have 1...
so womens has the evidence that we should be cared and loved by men! and we need "TLC" thats really important...
ty. Happy New Year to all

Philosophically speaking, the only true and honest answer will be from a person who has lived life as both. The rest of us are partial as we have never lived life as the opposing sex. We can only answer with opinions and a one-sided perspective. Hope that someone divulges their trans-gender status for you....good luck!

What do you mean by harder? From my perspective the women in my office can take off whenever they feel like it they can slack off and still face no disciplinary action. As for the men they are always in the boss' office. So in some respects we have it easier and in others we have it harder.

Easy question, women, guys don't care as much. In terms of actual hardship endured and quantity of emotional and physical stress and pain, they are about equal. Men as a generalization aren't as concerned as women and the peoblems of thier lives don't hit them as hard. There are both biological and social explanations for this, but the straight and simple is we don't get hurt as much because we don't let ourselves get hurt as much.

While I will admit there may be a difference due to gender I basically believe it a matter of attitude.
Any given situation is what it is and if we would learn to look at it that way then we could properly address it.
