Bush has said all along he will stay the course. What that really means is that 500,000 barrels of oil go missing in Iraq every day to the tune of $30 million, Halliburtons no bid contracts will continue right on schedule, the weapons manufacturers will draw billions every week out of our Treasury, oil prices will continue to go higher, the poppies in Afghanistan are selling like hotcakes and the oil pipeline from the Caspian Sea is right on schedule as well. BushCo has every reason to stay the course, and unless they are impeached, nothing will change their tune. I like Biden, but so far, the Democrats don't sound like they have what is necessary to stand up to the plundering herd.

Let me explain something to you . Troops are not paid to think, or to make decisions of a political magnitude. They are paid to follow orders of their superiors. Their superiors don't make political decisions either, and staying or going is a decision that is political in nature, so it is left up to the civilian authority to decide. Not the troops, but the civilian authority. Citizens who hope for a troop withdrawal don't think or see beyond the ends of their noses. They don't realize that in Iraq, since we over saw the demise of Saddam, we are now obligated to assume his responsibility, especially how it related to Iran. Iran and Syria represent an in balance of power in the middle east, therefore it is our duty to keep these two rogue country's from causing any more problems than they already have. It may be a long time before American troops can leave Iraq. We are now the gate keeper since the loss of Saddam !

Unfortunately, Bush plans to send the troops regardless of what the people say. As commander-in-chief, ordering such a deployment is immune to congressional approval. Theoretically, Congress could refuse to fund Iraqi operations, but they will anyway because they don't want to be accused of not "supporting the troops".
So basically, no meaningful troop withdrawals until Bush is out of office.

Maybe he's signaling Mr. Bush that the days of riding ruffshod over the American people are over. He may get what he wants in the long run, but he's going to have to fight for every inch of ground..

Sounds like propoganda to me. I value actions not words. And by the way, I disagree that we need to get out now. We need to stabilize that country somewhat now. Failure to do so will mandate our return at some point in the future. Or we can watch as another terrible government takes over there, and believe me they won't have much love for us.

He's openly admitted that he wants to run for President so he has an agenda...just like the rest of them. False hope for anyone against the war. Reassurance to anyone for the war.
