How do I check for lowering links or 'dogbones' if they are installed by the previous owner of my cbr 600 RR?

The two "dog bones" by the rear shock will be a different color. Most after market lowering companies will powder coat their aftermarket lowering parts so they stand out.

Check owners manual or call a shop and they should be able to tell you the stock ride height of the bike
