Its more dependant on the local government as to if anything is modified on the car other than the electrical upgrades to support the extra electronics. Around here, the only police that still have the camaros are the state highway patrol, and other than minor suspension upgrades and different tires, the cars are pretty much in stock configuration as far as performance goes. The cars are just as any other Z28 would be as far as top speed would be.

They use a Camaro Police interceptor prepared by GM for that purpose. All they did was put on the radio and emegengy equipment. See this site for specs:

The county sherriff's dept. had four Z 28's a few years ago, they totaled them all within 6 months. The illinois state police have a few mustangs, but no camaros that I know of.

GM's code for the police package camaro that they use is the "b4c" it thas many upgrades, more than you think. i have dozens of pics downloaded from dozens of sites if you'd like. my neighbor used to drive one for my town but now he has a mustang. the b4c camaros used to be the fastest patrol car out there but obviously that is no longer the case. they use chargers, mustangs, etc... email at mattstabird@sbcglobal.net for pics. good luck to you.
