Well, they don't sleep much and they have to be "on top" so for awhile, drugs are something they can easily afford and have ready access to. Also, it's like there's an expectation for them to use drugs, sort of like a requirement. "Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll" it's a cliche but one that people tend to take seriously. Sadly, drugs often add the "street cred" a performer needs to make it.

Well, of course, I don't really know for sure, but I think it's because they think they need it to get more attention and get more famous. And sometimes singers are already on drugs before they become famous, and then they quit after they become famous.

Well, how many of us could handle that kind of lifestyle, with the paparazzi following them every time they use the restroom or talk to someone of the opposite sex or dare to try to have a relationship, without needing a way to unwind? Not to mention the long hours many of them put in while touring and the constant traveling that wears them down until they need help just to keep performing on the level fans demand. Being under such constant scrutiny while extremist fans refuse them any privacy would be horrible to live with. Maybe we should back off them and let them be human.

I say it's the same reason anybody else chooses to use drugs.

"...there is a search for authenticity in thought, in stance, in personal relations. The drug becomes a means of dissolving the mask, of escaping from pretence, affectation and stereotyped reaction and attitude...
...contemporary drug use is also associated with a loss of faith in reason and a new emphasis on emotion...
...overstimulation and exposure to an overwhelming stressful and complex environment, which requires the individual to perform too many and too difficult differentiations and to solve problems which surpass his coping ability, are likely to lead to a disturbance ('a jamming') of his capacity to deal effectively with the excessive in-put to his central nervous system..."

Because the drugs take the edge off of their fears and also puts them in touch with their inner muse and makes them more creative. Drugs can also take away their feelings of inadequacy when, even though the world claims to love them, they realize that no one really knows them or even wants to. Who wants to know that the idol has feet of clay?

they are not the only ones, movie stars, xxx stars...all varies depending on type of drug they desire to consume, as to musicians its a category of fine arts, so doing when doing drugs..they do end up with a mood of creativity as out come and sexual pleasures. its also dangerous from over-dose and lack of knowedge from reasearch by individuals certain type of drugs do un-inhibit ones potential and also destroying their brain cells therefore ending up with serious conditions that becomes perminant damage.

examples.. eventhough these are actual art paiter artist, but like wise all art of one form to another.

Van Gough, his art, caused by lead poisoning while he paints and not knowingly being intoxicated with lead poisoning.

Picasso, addiction in love with females, smoking of herbs for sexual pleasure, see pictures of nude women.
