i want to write on my dvd+rw disc after i record a movie. the directions say to use a nonalcohol based felt tip pen, but i do not know if a sharpie is or not.

Get Real, using crayons is worse. Just use a regular felt tip marker. You can get them at any store that sells electronics and cds for only 2 bucks and they usually come in packs ranging for 2-5. Crayons are waxed based and they could ruin your dvd player and the dvd itself.

Felt tip-does not equal a Sharpie. A Sharpie is a brand of a permanent marker. I would think that a felt-tip would be a smaller size regular marker...

A Sharpie will be able to write on the disc.

They sure smell like they are. I use them all the time and it doesn't seem to hurt my cd's,,, if you have any reservations about it, use a crayon.
