what about cultural identity and confusion. think deeply about it. how would you deal when they grow up to find those differences and want to connect with their roots. try and reach all the possibilities.

If I were to adopt the race/ethnic heritage of the child would not matter to me but I would want to know that upon adoption so that I could learn more to be prepared to answer the child's questions as s/he grew older.

It may be a naive attitude but I think the pro's and con's would, in many ways be the same as with a child that you give birth to. Yes, of course there may be those who stop and stare or make comments but that will also happen with children who have disabilities.

Love is bigger than our outer appearance.

Edit- I have a white friend who is raising children from South America. It is a physically obvious difference. However, they learn everything they can about the childrens native culture: traditions, holidays, foods, and plan to vacation there.

I have a child that is black, vietnamese and white so I don't think the color (race) of anyone is their sole identity. So, cultural identity could be found in many other ways. There are whites who are African so there's a catch-22, and the same could be said for every nationality.

In the end, identity is made up of a whole lot more than race. At least, it should be.

Race, ethnic, culture would not matter to me because we are all human and pretty much the same well to an extent.

The cons would be conflict in the city you live in, they may be harassed because of their race or culture.

The pros would probably be to inspire others to adopt, you broaden your horizens by letting in different cultures into your home.

Angelina Jolie is my role model in this(I had this idea before I knew anything about her)

Nope. People are people regardless of race, and if anyone thought ill of me for adopting a child with different physical traits than me - too bad! I think people who adopt children are doing a wonderful thing because children should grow up with at least one parent who loves them unconditionally. If people want to have children that look just like them, then they should have their own children. (I know not everyone can physically have children, but I don't think looks should matter that much!)

That is never a good idea. I personally know of several. Few have turned out for the best. I would only advise it where the life of the child is at stake.
