First of all - check the care label!
If it has a circle with an 'F' inside then it must only be taken to a dry-cleaners thats have an Arklone machine (check with the staff if they dont know - dont use em!)
If it has a 'P' in a circle it can be taken to any dry-cleaners with a perc machine (these are standard machines in dry cleaners)
If it says you can wash by machine then take care to follow it precisely.
Hand wash? ummm hand wash it!
To be honest, with an expensive piece of clothing like cashmere I would ONLY use a dry-cleaners as if anything goes wrong - THEY are insured whereas you are not!
Good luck with however you deal with it.

If it says dry clean you can take it to a dry cleaner, but you do not have to do this. You can buy some Woolite wash it by hand in COLD water then leave it to dry on a flat surface so that it keeps it shape (do not hang on a coat hanger). If you have a stain on it buy a dry cleaning sock (you can get it on the laundry ilse).

Take it to a reputable dry cleaner. Make sure to point out to them any food spills or other spots or grime; otherwise you will get back a 'clean' dress with the food still stuck to it! Good luck.
