I'm 31 and I've never wanted children. But I love dogs and want one desperately. I think about it a lot. Do you think that's normal or have I got on the wrong track somehow?

I've always said I'd get pregnant when I could have puppies. I have no desire to give birth. My bf has a child and the "package deal" is fine with me.
Too many people out there have a child because they think that's what they're "supposed" to do. If you don't want any, don't have them. It doesn't make you weird.
Dogs can be a lot like children though, they require time, attention, guidance, babysitters sometimes too.

no way you should get a dog if you want one. I understand this because i wanted a dog so badly when i was little and i didn't want any babies when i grew older but i got a dog not that long ago. My mum says that a baby it a lot more work than a dog but it is up to you. My dog is wonderful he's always there but babies just cry when you cry i think. I dunno i havn't had any babies yet lol.

I don't think you're abnormal--just lazy. A baby is a lot more work than a dog. Dogs eat, poop, sleep, have to be walked occasionally, and then they die, generally in about 12 - 13 years. Children, however, require all you can give (both physically, mentally and monetarily) and some people are just too lazy and selfish to want to expend the time and effort on raising a child.

I know many people that don't want children. Get a dog! Save one, Buy one, whatever, just bring them into your life, you won't regret it.

Yes kids smell bad, and grow up to hate you anyway. A dog is loyal and bites when they don't like you.

Only if you're planning on giving birth to the dog.

I think you are more normal than you think. Have fun with your puppy! :)
