The injection that you ask about is relatively safe. It is Depo Provera. Once every three months. Sometimes you may not have a period while taking the injection. There may be soreness at the injection site but it goes away. Also, there have been cases of infertility after discontinuing the injections it may take awhile to have regular cycles. For the most part fertility returns. The implants, that is if you're questioning Norplant, the contraceptive is normally injected-placed beneath the skin, normally in the upper arm. The only drawback that I'm aware of is the esthetics or the way it looks and they may cause some discomfort, I'm not sure if the injection is available in Spain. I don't see why not.

STAY AWAY FROM DEPO PROVERA!

I was on depo provera (injection) for four years.

I got off of it quick because after five years you need to do a bone density check because of the side affects of the shot.

There are many other side affects of the shot that are not good as well.

I am on Kariva (pill) now. I have a hard time swallowing pills, so I try to have some water with it. I stretch my neck out pop the pill near the back of my throat and start swallowing water. You could also try to smash it into a powdery substance and swallow it that way with water.

Oh stay far far away from the depo prevera shots! I was on them for 10 years and ended up gaining 100 lbs, massive headaches, no sex drive, and a total biotch all the time, with many mood swings. Back in those days they were not aware of all these side effects. Also after the first injection you will most likely have a period for up to 6 months. Look into vaginal inserts.

I believe you are referring to depo provera. I would advise to speak with your doctor. I took it for 8 years and gained 10 for every year I was on it. Also it took me 18 months to have a period after I stopped getting the injections. Most women don't have a period at all on depo. I would suggest you speak with your doc about the Nova Ring. It is a ring that is inserted on the inside of the vagina and releases hormones transdermally. It is just as effective as the pills and the patch without having to remember to take the pills or having a reaction to the adhesive in the patch. The draw back is the ring has to be inserted and removed so you may not want to do that.

OMG! Hun, really don't go near the injection. I know every person reacts differently but I've been campaigning to get it banned. I personally know no one who hasn't had a problem with it.

I was put on it for 2 years and I put on 6 stone in weight, and had dark heavy bleeding for the whole time, non-stop, my hair thinned out, lost my sexual appetite completely, and became depressed, I have also recently found out that I may be infertile which the doctor said might be linked (I doubt this personally). I know people close too me that have have varying problems including alaepchia (sp) (irreversible hair falling out), weight gain, and false pregnancy.

I've been on the pill and had no problems! I really wouldn't recomend it at all. Just thought I should warn you. In the end it's your decision and as I said people react differently.

i'm 13 and embarrassingly, my answer too your question is definite, I do. i think of I even have this phobia of pills, pills, and pills. i basically can no longer look to swallow them. i could swallow the babies, like 250g or some thing. yet i'm frightened of the enormous 500g and oftentimes consume them with a banana so that is greater convenient to swallow, accompanied via juice. :|

I myself haven't tried the Depo shot but I have used the pill and the patch and did not like them. I am on the Nuva Ring right now and love it, I only have to think about birth control once a month.

i found that i gained about 20 pounds after getting the depo shot. My friend actually lost weight after getting it. It is very convenient as you don't have to take a pill every day. The shot lasts about 3 months Everybody is different. Try it out

Depo (the shot) works really well. The only down side is that it can make your bones very brittle. Some people gain weight on it, though I have not. Great to NOT have periods either!
