What is kick start? What is the function of kick in starting a motorcycle?

Actually I want to know what happens when we puch the kick? Does it move the engine? Does it produce electricity for spark? I mean what is the role of kick in starting a motorcycle? And what battery does is start?

It turns the motor over through the Compression stroke of the cycle (where fuel is being compressed as the piston comes to top dead center, and then the spark plug fires). With the ignition on, the spark plug with spark when the points (older bikes) or ignition rotor (newer bikes) passes through the firing stage. If all goes well, the spark will ignite the fuel, turn the motor through to the next cylinder (or next compression storke on a single cylinder) and fire again. From there, the bike will be running.

It performs the same functions as a starter motor on an electric start bike. It turns the fuel and oil pumps, as well as the alternator, so yes it does generate electricity for the spark plug. On a kick start bike a battery is unnecessary.

dont say kick your bike to start !!!!!!!!!!!!! nope it is a term for manually starting your engine by depressing the pedal protruding on your left side or right side of the bike.It is easy to recognise that pedal.and giving a powerful downward thrust by your foot it will revv up your engine into cycle motion thus starting the combustion and the igniter will also fire.battery in this sequence are not use because mostly bike engine have a magneto generator built inside the engine

That's how you start a motorcycle without automatic ignition. There is a small bar that you kick and give it gas and that starts the engine.

this is like a manual start, there is a lever to turn the engine over, and you do it with your foot, so the term kick start :)
