If you don't have a recovery CD, then unplug the computer from the wall. Open the back of the computer and disconnect the battery. Count to 10. Plug everything back in and reboot. Otherwise, the answer above me to use the recovery CD is the better answer.

Wow.. you are in quite a pickle. You should have another profile on there, even if it's "guest" go into that profile. Or within user accounts create a new profile and make yourself the administrator. You can do this very easily in XP, which sounds like that is what you have based on your question. Once you create the new profile making yourself the admin you change the password to other accounts profiles, ie your locked profile.
I would also ask your work helpdesk to fix this when you get back into work. If you are on travel then you can risk it all and try this link. http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID=305
It will work if you have XP cd... however, most people don't.
I wish you the best of luck. I really hope the first option I gave you works, granted that if you even have another profile on that machine.

You dont have to do all of that stuff. When you boot up your computer try getting to the BIOS or system setup screen by pushing one of the F keys before winXP boots up and either choose last good known configuration or find something in system setup named safe mode. When in safe mode (if you have winXP) it should boot up to the desktop without a user or password. then you can navigate to the control settings and change the password for the computer. should work, if not got to microsoft tech support.

when Windows XP is setup on a computer it asks for an administrator password (this is separate from user passwords)
On the log-on screen
press "crtl+alt+delete" twice
this will bring up a log-on window where you have to enter a user name and password
Type in
USER: Administrator
PASSWORD: (if you don't know what it is try blank) If you do know what it is go for it
If Blank does not work then contact your computer manufacturer and explain your situation
