You know the stories. Ships and planes go missing and compasses screw up. Time is lost, reports that planes traveled 100s of miles in just a minutes. Even heard that space ships have came out of the water. What do you think?

Well I think that anything is possible. No-one has been able to go into the bottom of the ocean is just to deep. Besides, pressure and temperature are tough enemies. There are many theories, some sound reasonable, others out of the ordinary, but chances are everywhere. I think that something creepy might be going on out there.

Utter nonsense. People who still buy into the BT crap are as delusional as those who believe the bible to be true.

Charles Berlitz almost single handedly created this urban legend with a series of sensationalistic books in the 1960's and 70's...his books have been thouroughly debunked for years. (eg. The Bermuda Triangle Mystery:Solved was published in the 1970's as well)

There are no more disappearances of vessels etc in the Bermuda Triangle than any other part of the ocean. All of the famous cases have been examined in detail by experts and have simple rational explanations. Many of the events in Berlitz's books simply DIDN'T EVEN HAPPEN!!!...he wasn't very good at fact checking if the "story" was good. Many of his cases were just 3rd and 4th hand local stories that he embellished, without researching to see if there was an actual event.

Unfortunately, bad TV shows like those on The Discovery Channel still get a lot of ratings for trying to perpetuate the myth that something mysterious is happening. It isn't.

There's some links to debunking of the BT at the links I've attached. Have a nice skeptical day. (FYI....a group of skeptics led by James Randi took a cruise through the BT last summer...they survived)

Eh, I read a book on this stuff in 4th grade (it had Bigfoot in it too!) and it said there was some kind of weird, strong metal waaaay down underwater, and that was what messed up the compasses. As a result, ships and planes go off track and land somewhere else or maybe don't even return at all. The 100's of miles in minutes and space ships thing is just an exaggeration though, atleast how I remember it in 4th grade. Tee hee... =)

I heard it had something to do with an un-natural amount of methane gas being emitted from the bottom of the ocean causing ships to sing and killing the engines of aircraft...???
