it is important for hermit crabs to have humidity. Also, dont forget to give them a bath. The "bath topic" is debated quite a bit by hermit crab owners. But I do it. It flushes all of the poop out of the shell, and makes it nice and clean. if you have any questions about hermit crabs feel free to e-mail me. Id be happy to answer. Also, someone said use wood chips. dont. Wood chips can get stuck in the shell and hurt your crab. sand is the good, calci sand being better. Beach sand is also good, since it is more natural for them, just bake it before you put it in your tank! (make sure its cool before puting your hermit crabs back on it)

When setting up the tank - you need moist wood chips - you should clean the tank montly (or more as needed) and it should be kept moist also. Always keep larger shells in the tank - if he grows out of his and a bigger is not there - he will die. Good luck!

You need to mist the tank daily. The humidity needs to be kept above 70% at all times otherwise the crabs gill will dry out and it will die.
