only ugly people say that inner beauty is more important

It is an expression and that does not make it automatically correct. Beauty is that which is esthetically pleasing and symmetrical. " Inner beauty " is an euphemism for something else, say goodness. To say beauty is only skin deep may not be correct, scientifically. As a sexual selection marker, it may be conferring information about genetic quality. Do not read to much into an old saying that is mostly metaphorical.

Your two statements are contradictory. Beauty is skin deep. That is why people wear make up. And inner beauty is a totally different thing. People have make up for that too.

Imagine if you had to choose a present based only on the wrapping paper. You would likely choose the best wrapped gift. That is why people doll themselves up. Sometimes to distract from inner ugliness and sometimes to accentuate inner beauty. But you have to be attracted in the first place.

Beauty isn't a surface word, beauty is just an attractive feature. No one's saying people are only beautiful with make up, maybe people just prefer how they look with make up, they feel more confident. Personally I can take or leave it unless I'm going out somewhere smart. I am more attracted to girls who aren't caked up in make up. I think make-up, like anything, tattoos, clothing, is all just an expression of personality.

Beauty can be defined as qualities combined that makes something pleasing ans impressive to look at, listen to, touch, smell, or taste. Although people thing that beauty is on the outside, people forget that the beauty of a person's personality shines to be radiant. People need make-up to make them feel radiant, but it doesn't matter what they feel when make-up is applied. Make-up is not very heath for the skin. It clogs to pores.

Inner beauty? That's not beauty, that's kindness or greatness, or goodness. How can you say that a 90-year-old woman is more beautiful than a 20-year-old super model even if the super model is a very unpleasant person? Beauty is just as simple as the word suggests!
