Remove plastic covering under steering column, place your key in the switch and turn it to acc. mode, push in the locking pin and pull outwards on the switch, install new one in acc.mode, turn key to lock position, make sure locking pin holds switch into place, replace plastic covering.....but remember to throw away the correct key as the new switch comes with one, also if your old key opens other things on your car,you must keep it,or go to locksmith and get them keyed the same.

The instructions above are for replacing the locking mechanism for the ignition and steering column. If you have an electrical problem with the ignition switch, replacing the lock won't solve it. Then you turn the key, it actuates a rod which operates a switch located on the top side of the steering column near the firewall. This switch has an electrica plug and is held in place with 2 screws.

You will have to expose the switch by taking off the column. You will need a screw driver for this. You should see a little button on the side. If you push that button (you might need a nail or punch) all the way down and turn the key to the right position, it should slide out. You will have to unplug the wires before or after you do that.
