"Tiger Woods wins the award over San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson, with tennis great Roger Federer a distant third??? "
Tomlinson, who already has set an NFL record of 31 touchdowns with one regular-season game left, was second with 230 points.
Federer's record in 2006 was an amazing 92-5, including 12 singles titles.
Golf is an athletic sport??? Give me a break - who votes for these awards anyway??? And who would you vote for - one of these 3 guys or someone else??? Personally, L.T. gets my vote!

Tiger winning this award has me mad as hell. He's good at what he does, but the key word here is ATHLETE. Let's consult Webster's Dicitonary, shall we?
athlete : a person who is trained or skilled in exercises, sports, or games REQUIRING PHYSICAL STRENGTH, AGILITY, OR STAMINA
How much can Tiger Bench? What's his time in the 40? EXACTLY!!
Laidanian Tomlinson has put almost 200 points on the scoreboard for his team this year and he's done it rushing, receiving AND passing. This award should have gone to him EASILY!
Roger Federer should have been second because Tennis is one of the most physically grueling sports next to soccer and he has dominated the men's Tennis Circuit for YEARS! and a 95 % win percentage is pretty insane.
3rd should have gone to (ready for this?)
VINCE YOUNG!!! That Rose Bowl game happened in 2006 as well as him taking an NFL team that was absolutely pathetic and single handedly turning them around. The guy simply does not know how to lose. I guess he'll have to settle for NFL Rookie of the year.

Eh, i love Jimmie, yet i imagine Drew Brees is extra deserving. He and the finished Saints crew performed with heart and backbone very last season. Johnson actually benefits the award for superb motive force, although. Johnson has had a lot of competition this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, yet see you later as he receives on a roll in the course of the chase and runs nicely, he will be in competition for the Cup come abode.

This is a joke, and the female athlete is Ochoa(sp) another golfer, I can't take this seriously with golfers like John Daly(sp) and Stadler playing this game, big fatso's that can't see the ball for their guts.
Roger Federer is a true champion not the AP selected jokers.

Well Tiger Woods doesn't just win when he beats people in golf, he blows everybody else away, he wins by so much that it's not a close score in anyway. And yes golf is a sport, not one that I enjoy but it is a sport
