They celebrate Hanukkah. Hanukkah is 8 days long. They light a candle every night to simulate what the Jews did back when they were enslaved during the Egyptian times. I don't know the rest of the story but I hope this helps a little.

Actually you will find that many Jews work on Christmas day so their co-workers can have the day off. Check your hospital next time you seriously injure yourself on Christmas day and see how many Jewish doctors and nurses have taken that shift!

Chanukah is not celebrated *instead* of Christmas. Chanukah was an earlier celebration. See John 10:22 where it is called the Feast of Dedication. It is a celebration of the Dedication of the Temple after the Abomination of Desolation occured.

it’s a weird day to be off from work for jews on christmas. No stores are open. There’s nothing on TV. Most restaurants are closed. It’s a boring day, a good day to be at work. So when Christmas rolls around, many Jews would be happy to work on the 25th and have a more useful day off. But we are forced to take a holiday.

They don't celebrate Christmas because they don't beleive that Jesus is thier Messiah but they celebrate Hanakah at about the same time of year.
