I am looIking for a couple of good coin collecting websites. I am starting a collection and I want to learn about the US coins before I begin to invest money into the hobby. Do you know of any websites which would help me begin my coin collecting hobby ?

You need to learn to grade coins and you need to know about coins before going to a web site. The general rule among coin collectors is buy the book before the coin. If you are just going to be an investor then buy only PCGS or NGC graded coins and from a near by coin dealer. Check him out as well as other near by. Pick his brain so to speak. If you intend to some day become a numismatist then go for the books. You can try http://coins.about.com

i suggest books first off, second online places tend to scam you and order coins from US mints to be honest is best for your collection that way you know there for real. Also some bansk might have things like certain coins as well and want to get rid of them for current currancey and will probally give it to you for the coin value.
