I believe they are both great. I can't make a comparison, say who is better. They both brought something new in music, each with his style.

Good question..I like them both. What we have here are two fab artists who came during two different eras. They both changed music. Who knows what either one of them could have done had they lived a bit longer. In Kurt Cobain's death he has made more money than Elvis...I don't really think this is because he is a better artist, I think it's because a lot of our younger generation are not willing to test music. Elvis is so "old school" that some kids just aren't going to listen to him. Plus, he's not necessarily the same kind of music as Kurt. Weigh them out...Great voices? Both. Inspirational? Both. Very talented? Both.Introduced new things into the music industry? Both. Changed the music industry? Both Extreme fame before and after death? Both. Regardless of how much they have in common, let's face it, there will always only be one Kurt and there will always only be one Elvis.

Two totally different artists. Even though Elvis is considered by alot of people to be an icon, I think he was a straight up copy cat-he copped his style from black musicians he saw while in southern juke joints (what clubs were called back in the day). Even though Kurt Cobain was schizophrenic, the poor soul had his own musical style.

I agree with Randye that the two artists are much too different to compare which is "better." However, Elvis was around longer, and his music left a lasting impact on rock and roll and laid the foundation for artists like Kurt Cobain and other rockers.

They are too different to compare, better to ask Elvis or Johnny Cash? or Curt Cobain or Eddie Vedder?

Elvis was an icon in his time AND now. Kurt only achieve large amounts of fame after he killed himself.

Elvis > Kurt
