I am a believer that interracial marriages can and do work out. It happens each day. What I also know is that interracial marriages, even today are often viewed with hatred. With that said, this is also more baffling: Interracial marriages between many different people are often viewed with hateful controversy, but in particular, interracial marriages between a black man and a white female are viewed with particular spite and hatred. Why is this?

Because at one point in American History, Black men were lynched in the streets of the south if they were even accused of talking to or touching a White woman. Racist Whites (not all) made sure that Black men and White women were kept far apart, and that White women were put on a pedestal as being pure, good, and chaste, while Black women were legally raped by White men.

So until this day, Black women and White men are most bothered when they see a Black man with a White woman. Both groups see it as a betrayal. Judging from history, I can see the valid of that anger.

Regardless what your personal feeling are on this subject, a black person and a white person's marriage will always be viewed with scorn and hatred here in the south. Call us ignorant, racists, or whatever but it is and will always be a non acceptable thing for the majority of southerners. I also find this to be true among many northern folks too. Only time and new generations may change this attitude.

I don't see anything wrong with an interracial marriage, if someone loves someone else, that is all that count. My sister is in an interracial marriage and I have no problem with her husband, he is just another person to me and we get along just fine.

The only reason race is ever an issue is because of ignorance, insecurity or stupidity.

In marriage it should only be about the two people in the marriage, I don't care what my neighbors are doing and they shouldn't care who I marry.

Personally, I've known 10 or so interracial couples and have never seen any "controversy" revolving their union. I think you are just trying to stir things up.

Its stupid to hate something that is NORMAL. iam black, i would date any women that i considered being worth my time. Most black people in the south STILL have in their minds that they should stay away from white women because of unforgiveness, and ignorance. Alot of REALLY bad things happended to our race, but to use something(slavery, lynchings) constantly that happended 40 years ago to bring validity to your hatred and ignorance is not good. I say grow up.

I have no idea, but I think interracial marriages are good for the gene pool!

Racial differences should not interfere with marriage. As long as you love the other person, it doesn't matter what race you are or what anyone else thinks. I think it's great that people of different races can get along.

I guess it all depends on demographics. It may not be a big deal in California or up north, but in the southern states its still looked down on. Maybe ignorance, maybe racism, who knows

Ignorance, if society research it's family history and tree, they would find traits that would surprise and humble them.
