A lot of kids/teenagers and even adults feel they have to impress people with their image, but there's really no good or bad image if you're open minded, then some people have a certain image because of the things that done happened to them in their life. But people are soo materialistic and artifical these days, you can't tell the real from the fake.. that's why I try to keep myself down to earth, open minded and well rounded with people different images. And for most images, there's a good and bad side to them.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... I think the reason why beauty is always in the eye of the beholder is cause the beholder is GOD, and God don't judge people for how they look... and if their not in fly gear or dirty... God see pass that and look at them for how they treat others and themselves and for the good things they have accomplished!

And most people don't do that, even though some of us try, but we will not always see beauty in the image we're looking at!

In our modern society (and other non-modern societies, I guess as well) image is entirely relevant, whether we wish it were or not. Image can say a lot about a person, even when they say 'don't judge a book by its cover' we do anyways, even subconsiously. We naturally observe people with all of our senses, but mostly with our eyes. Sight can tell alot about person- where they're from, are they married? Self-conscious, comfortable with themselves, trustworthy?

Beauty in the eye of beholder. The beholder, being the said person, the eye, being their eye/mind of that person. It is sort of hard to put down in words, but it's basically like this: If you think you are beautiful, or pretty, or elegant or cute, and are comfortable with yourself, you might as well be, whether or not you are pretty. People will be able to see you are comfortable with yourself, if they're a bad person, they'll be able to target what will get the most to you- the realistic flaws of your physical beauty. If they are a kind person, they will see what you like best about yourself, where you are most comfortable and compliment.

And for you 'why can['t] people just stop judging', I assume its because judging is a natural thing to do. You see some one, adjectives pop into your head. Only really people who are insecure about themselves will judge others. If you're comfortable with yourself, you barely need to one-up anyone else to make yourself feel better.

Image is very important to some people because they have no self esteem. Others perceptions of them makes them feel more important.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" means that everyone has different ideas about what beauty is. You may look at a dandelion and think "beautiful little flower", someone else may look at it and think "ugly weed".

Overly self important people are the ones who continually judge others. It's not their job, they just don't know it.

Yes, I still "feel" 22. I'm not, but my heart and soul didn't get the memo.

How other view you, makes your self esteem rise or fall. If someone says you are ugly, it can make you feel sad about yourself and make you have a bad day. People judge because they think they have the right to judge....in reality if someone was judging them things would be different. People make assumptions and sterotype people. It would be a better world if people would stop judging etc, but I don't thnk that will happen anytime soon. People want entertainment, unfourtually sometimes others are vitims of that. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

i dont reli get it either b/c there is no complete deffintion of being ugly. look in the dicionalry it most likely will say something about being unattractive. now go ahead and find unattractive, what does that say?? ugly??? probably but ok see you judge for ur self. no one has the right to say that someones ugly b/c the prettiest thing to some people can be extrememly ugly.to others, what makes a person ugly???who has the right to declare ugly??? noone . b/c by others they may be extrememly unattractive.

people make fun other people b//c when they are with a group of friends. their freinds will laugh at what they say and then that person will feel good an daccepted, people want to feel accepet and they will do alot to get that, even hurtingh other people for their happiness, isnt that a shame??

Image is what you perceive yourself to be and no one can help the judging part if that is what you want to call perception. It's a good thing, it's what puts clothes on people in the first place.

It means everything to most of us. the answer to the second one is that everyone sees beauty as different from others. Some could say it's ugly, but some say it's beautiful.

Because people are shallow and they only care about image. Some people are selfish and think that they are the best and everybody else is bad and that is why they keep on judging people so they feel good about themselves.

because the media (movies, magazines, etc.) instill an ideal in our heads (the ideal is unrealistic and not healthy).. They build the ideal appearance to be the key to happiness. It is no wonder that women and men surveyed noted a drop of self-esteem after reading "beauty" magazines.
