Taxes are one issue out of many promoted by a political party. For many Democrats, including wealthy ones, it doesn't much matter whether they pay 30% or 40% of their income to the government - however it is of utmost important whether we will be engaged in a war and whether privacy rights and individual freedoms are protected. Basically, they are willing to spend an extra few thousand dollars (or millions in some cases) to advance these causes.

Many wealthy people who are democrats believe that the wealthy owe society money. Society has allowed them to become wealthy, and that they have received many benefits provided by society and owe back. Wealthy famous democrats, like the Kennedy's, consistently vote for tax increases on the higher income people. They feel that they have enough, even paying higher taxes; and they do. Wealthy Rep. politicians go the opposite way. They cut taxes along with services for ordinary Americans and the poor, to provide even greater weath to the rich. You decide which is the better way to operate a society, just for the few who are already blessed or for everyone which is what a government for the people and by the people seems to mean to me.

So are you saying that you'd rather see the middle-class and the poor make up the difference in taxes? You'd rather see government programs cut and defunded, rather than maintained? You think that our economy should be populated by two-classes--rich and poor?

Maybe you didn't get a chance to work during the Clinton years when our economy was so robust that it created a tax-suplus--or maybe you like the fact that every newborn American has a 30,000 dollar debt from our Republican leadership?

Because, oftentimes, being democratic, or at least claiming to be democratic, makes a rich and famous person richer and more famous. True, their tax rate might go up if democrats win, but by declaring that they are democratic, their income also goes up.

Imagine what would happen to Oprah Winfrey's fame and fortune if tomorrow she were to suddenly say, "I oppose affirmative action, abortion, and gay marriage." She found a niche, so she keeps it.

Rich famous people do tend to be shrewd.

There is more than one concern a political party addresses. Those among the rich who identidy themselves as Democrats most likely view that being taxed more is less important than other matters.

Also, there are many rich Republicans as well as Democrats.

Most rich democrats are Hollywood types who never had to try to build or run a business. They get huge paydays for memorizing lines, playing the guitar and being pretty. They don't understand that when you leave the money in the hands of the citizens they will build oppurtunity and cultivate a better society.

Some rich people feel guilty about having the money they have and they think all other rich people are as undeserving as they think themselves to be, so in order to punish people they vote for Democrats who will take money from rich people who worked for their money and give it to people who refuse to work.

First i suggest you look into what a complex question fallacy is, since you just committed one.

Second, why do rich actors support the democrats? Because movies are an art form and artist are traditionally liberal. The amount of money one makes does not determine their political affiliation. It is instead based on their political views.

That's the point - rich Democrats recognize the need for the wealthy to pay back into the society that made them rich.

This goes back to the origins of Democracy in Athens, Greece, thousands of years ago... in a true democracy, like in ancient Athens, the wealthy did things like sponsor warships (paying for the ship and the crew), sponsoring theatre, religious construction, and other public works.

In today's society, that amounts to being taxed more for being excessively wealthy.

The 'Republicans' on the other hand - want to take no responsibility for, or reward those who, made them wealthy.

That's why most wealthy people are Republican. They want to take, but never give back, however hypocritical that is to the ideology they preach.
