I always wonder what makes some people strong enough to stand up to their parents or whoever and specially the people who are minors so what makes them jsut know that they are right even though they are minors and they do what think is right no matter what?

Realizing that your parents are just bafoons. Just do what you want. Get grounded? So what? Go out anyway. If they hit you? Sue them.

Parents have false power. Do what you want. They are just going to unleash you into the world with nothing anyway.

It may seem to you, that your parents are wrong and you wanna tell them off. I felt the same way, when I was a teenager, but now that I'm grown up, I'm really glad they were they way were, I wouldn't be the person I am if it wasn't for them. I always have and always will respect my parents. I think teenagers now have it way better, than we did...we still got beatings, there was no such thing as your own phone, Tv in your room, and boy did we have chores...I see the way some of these ungratefull brats these days talk to their parents, and it makes ME wanna slap them in the mouth!!!All you hear is I want!

This has been going on, since the beginning of time. As teenagers, we believe all of what we read or heard from other teenagers, rather than listening to the voices of experience ... our elders. My 18 y/o son is at this stage right now ... arggggggg ... help, he's drivin' me nuts ... he argues with me about EVERYTHING!!

But, that's alright, at some point in life ... when they mature fully, they always get that "eye-opener" of a moment ... and realize that they, in fact, know very little ... and that their WHOLE LIFE is a learning experience.

When all minors get to a certain age, its one of life's rules that they automatically know everything and are never wrong, ..... although most cant hold a full time job and go to school at the same time, afford their own place to live, their own car to drive, plus insurance, or clothe and feed themselves....... but of course, they honestly believe they know everything about life and ... "They Have Been There, and Done That" ....... Just a phase we all have , and will continue to go thru. At some point in adulthood, most of us learn we will never know everything nor do we want to. LOL

When I was a minor, it was my know-it-all attitude that made me stand up to my mom and tell her things that I still think were right. I wasn't afraid to give her a piece of my mind, and believe me, she wasn't afraid to do the same. And it is still that way, I just have more respect and understanding for her.

Self confidance...and sometimes pure stupidity. I stood up to my parents a lot...wished maybe I had listened a bit more now.

Sometimes, when young people read influential books or have mentors that challenge them, they learn how to appropriately question authority in all its forms

At younger ages we think we know everything, but it isn't until we get older do we realize we know nothing. I think that is the sign of maturity and wisdom, knowing that we know nothing
