How should they come across their costumes and superhero names?

They should think about what they like doing the most and make some sort of name from it. Or they can make a name for the powers that they use.

Well, let's look at the Origins of the Fantastic Four.

Ben Grimm turned into this thing... he's The Thing
Sue is a woman who turns invisible... the Invisible Woman
Johnny's a human being who turns into fire... the Human Torch
And Reed is a guy who stretches like a Rubber Band... Mr. Fantastic.

See, it all makes sense.

As for costumes, I'd recommend street clothes. Seriously. Costumes are tiresome and are so last century.

they should pick a name that best fits their personality, their friends or cmrades should pick it. they could have specialists that make ultra awesome costumes, like in the incredibles.

character descriptions would help. they could find one in the basement that was their parents or something and than make one like it...
