They say that behind every great man is an even better woman. There is an actual quote, but I am not able to rememebr who said it. Anyways, several people here have answered with good responses. To expand upon them, you first need to decide on who you want to view you as a great man. Is it how you view yourself... another person in particular, family, friends, employer, coworkers, peers... or to be viewed by the public/ media in either a positive or negative light. Then you need to decide why you want to be like "all greatest men". Is there a particular trait they all have... or is there a certain trait that you may have or want to build?
To be a great man has many different meanings.
A great man is humble and accepts that he is not perfect and will make mistakes. A great man learns from those mistakes. He is kind, compassionate, and gives unto others selflessly.
Ultimately, only you can decide on "how" you can be a "greatest" man.

there are two ways you can go about it.....first way is being famous in a bad way...which in a scence is the easiest to do. being known as a criminal or something equivilant, or being the biggest jackass on the face of the earth withoud givin out any names take for example the president......:#
the other way, which is the proper way is to make a diffrince in life. a diffrince that will help both the rich and the pooor, the christians, muslims, jews, budas, and any other religious human. the one thing in my perspective humans really need right now us a little bit of peace over the world. in some other cases the discovery of a new medicence would bring you to the feilds of the known.
belive me you can do it, you dont differ from the greatest ppl. take example u might say the "father of america" come on he really won only two battles, that weren't against the british. some of the founding fathers......they were drunk for most of the times for GOD's give me a break.........you should always think in evey posible angle.....the greatest person in the whole history of mankind, and will always be... is the profit muhammed (pbuh) that is why i follow his steps. at least i'll be great infront of my creator, God, in judgment day, no man would tell God i was great so give him a special treatment........

well, history can remember you in 2 cases:
1- you did a very good ting for the humanity, something which is not given to anyone,it can be an invent, a medicin, a speech sometimes...
2- you did something really bad!!! u may invent a new weapon, create a new racism group....or whatever,
so choose one of them, lol,
no seriously, i'm sure u mean the first, so u have to know ur self and to know what u are really able t do, what is te thing u can do for humanity, for your country, for your city, for something you believe in!
create an association, study medecine and find the treatement of the AIDS, write an exceptional book, invent something new but really special....
good luck!! and remember that the most of those world history men and women were just like us a day, but they had the hope and the conviction that they can be better, and they can change the world!!
so keep on, and remember that talking and wishing is not enough, plannify and get ready to start, and don't forget to start and to keep on no matter how the limits are!!

The greatest men on this planet realized one thing: That their life means nothing and it's purpose is to serve others. Be it through sciences, Arts, Politics, humanities or peace.
Serve others without wanting anything in return, only then will be regarded as a great person. To be one of the greatest, you have to almost sacrifice your own life and devote for the betterment of others.
Einstein once remarked that "Everyday I live, I realize more how much I owe back to the world and the people"

Come on. No great man ever wanted to be a great man. You need to talk to yourself- what you are good at and what you wnat to do. And, how you can be of great help to the society.
Once you identify the differentaiting factor, try to work without hoping to get recognized. If you do some thing hoping some return in mind, you will never achieve something.
Yes, it is possible in Politics. Become a righthand man of a famous politician and win his/her confidence. Then, he/she may mentor and groom you.
All the best

Do something similar to what they did. Don't become an actor. It is different to be famous from being great.
