Obvious choices - Pop, Pop/Rock, Christian Rock (if he's into it):
Kelly Clarkson, Nickelback, Ashlee Simpson, Kutless, Default, Backstreet Boys (again, if he's into that), Matchbox Twenty, Embrace, Seven Places, Gnarls Barkley, New Found Glory, Mae

You can never go wrong with The Beatles (the red and blue albums) or AC-DC.
You can also get him some accoustic type, like Train or Days of the New. Yonder Mountain String Band... I guess it all depends on what he likes and what you like. You should be able to influence him with what you like... at the risk of sounding like an old man, I would stay away from techno or hip-hop, until he develops an ear for instrumental music.
Good luck!

there is alot of "clean" music out there. but i-tunes should tell you if the songs are clean or not..i think. in your case, its gonig to have to depend on what he likes to listen to. dont force anything on him. everyone has to develop their own taste in music. i personally, would say to avoid the hip-hop and rap cuz most of those songs are sexually explicit and swear alot. ive seen that generally most rock songs dont have alot of that bad stuff. ahhh, so many suggestions, but i'll give "our lady peace". great band.

I don't have any specific suggestions, but with I-tunes you can search music and it will tell you if the songs are clean or explicit.
