Well I do not care for Haggard, but the church in which I am a member of uses that money to clothe, feed, and provides assistance to needy families. In the church budget are many programs such as these and the "tithe" is used to keep this programs running. As a volunteer in some of these activities I actually see the money "working" for it's intended use.

Never heard of Ted Haggard before. I'll only donate to those who are actually doing God's work and mission.

I never gave a dime to Ted Haggard.

Anyway, nobody's perfect and he resigned, thankfully. Unlike a sexually immoral President I can think of....

There are lots of other worthwhile causes to donate money to.

Even if you're not a believer, you can find a lot of worthy, secular causes at the site below

Wonder how much money has been donated to Ted Haggard since all the information about him has become common knowledge? I would bet very little. In any case, you cannot condemn the vast majority because of mistakes made by the minority.

Conservatives are by and large Christian who believe the bible. The bible makes it very clear that giving is essential to the Christian life. It also makes it very clear that we have a responsibility to be sure of the legitimate use of the money, to help orphans and widows, and to further the teaching and spreading of the Gospel. Woe to those who deceive and use that money entrusted to them for immoral purposes. When you give, RESEARCH!!! When you are deeply satisfied that your money is being used properly, you tend to give more freely.

I don't donate to Churches, I donate to organizations that distribute the money I give, to the people I want them to give it to.

Think doing something with money "for God" will make it all better. Reality is "you" are more important than money to God. How much is your refused effort worth in dollars for the cause?

My guess is that these conservatives that you re talking about are most likely under-educated, semi-literate and provincial. They hate gays, blacks, jews, catholics and anyone else that threatens their own grotesquely uninformed view of the world.

Haggard, and people like him, are no different than the snake-oil salesmen of the 18th and 19th century. They know their audience, they know how to manipulate them and they do so for profit.

In truth, there is very little hipocrisy in Haggard. If you thought he was about Jesus and Christianity, then the joke was always on you. He was out to get paid, nothing more, nothing less...

Gay prostitutes and methamphetamines aren't free you know.

Because they are allies in the conservative political agenda. They do not have to practice what they preach as long as they are loyal.
