My boyfriend and I are going to Mexico for my 21st birthday. We can either:
1. stay in Cancun at a hotel for a week or so, or
2. go on a cruise and see a bunch of places over a weeks time.
Cruise is all-inclusive, hotel isn't.
Which would you prefer, and why?

I'd go on the cruise. If you don't like one stop, at least there will be others. In the Cancun option, what if you get bored? You just have to ride it out. I'm easily bored and I'd rather see multiple places than only one. Have a great trip!

Cruises don't let you spend enough time anywhere to get the feel of a place. Personally, I wouldn't stay in Cancun. I would go to Cozumel or Playa del Carmen. Not so many drunk 19 year old gringos. LOL Great snorkeling and easy access to Tulum and Chichen Itza for some culture. IMHO...

Cruises are the only way to go. Like you said, all inclusive! Make sure and cruise Carnival, that's the best line for younger crowds. You travel all over, party all day or night, and you're only seconds from the room (or minutes depending on how drunk you get).

stay in cancun because you can get out and about and see things, if you're on a boat, you're pretty much stuck on the boat.
it depends on how much of the city you want to absorb, i guess.
sounds like you're well off anyway. you'll go on a cruise or something else next year, i bet.

cruise.. cuz then i could go to tons of neat places..... and i wouldnt get bored sitting in a hotel in cancuun
