Yep, I'm terrified of it. I can't stand to even be by a window when it flashes. I know it's irrational because chances of being struck are so small, but that doesn't alter my fear. My fear was reinforced when I heard about that hiker who was struck in the mountains. He was struck and he was completely fine, but an hour later he was struck again and it killed him. I don't even feel safe indoors.

Well, I grew up in what was, at the time, the lightning capital of the world: Tampa Bay Florida. So, no, I'm not fearful in any way of lightning. In fact, thunderstorms are very calm and comforting for me. I love the colorful displays that sometimes occur with certain storms, and the differences of the rambling of thunder.

I can understand why some may be spooked by it though, it is hard to even explain scientifically. Plus the chance of getting hit lingers in some people's minds.

But the chances of you being struck by lightning are SO small, you are more likely to die in a car crash, just remember that!!!

If there is a lightning storm and I am standing out in an open field or on top of a building, then YES. Otherwise, not really. The odds are too slim of getting hit to concern yourself with it. If you fear this, then you may as well fear driving or eating. They're more likely to kill you then lightning is!

Yes and no...

I love lightning, its exciting... and when it hits near you (was in a car 50' from a lightning strike on a transformer was awesome...) its incredible.

I think part of the fear of being struck enhances the excitement...

So overall I'd have to say no... I have taken great risks during lightning storms and I love them... but fear and taking chances is an intrinsic part of it.

no, infact I walked through a brutal lightning storm here in FL last year, it was pouring so bad I couldn't see 20 feet. I got stuck about 2 miles from my home when it started raining and I took my shoes off and walked through it. There were crashes every 15 seconds or so, it was so close I could see flashes everywhere but not the actual bolt, the thunder was deafening. What a rush though. It was amazing that I was not struck walking through it with bare feet standing in water for 45 minutes while lighting struck all around me. True story....

Nope. I have seven fears: infinity, death, the Apocolypse, dead people , Chucke Cheese, heights, and elevators. These are the MAJOR fears. Then i have the HYBRID fears which are a combination of the major fears and something else. Then there are the POSSIBLE fears which are things I MIGHT be afraid of, but aren't yet. So lightning would go in my hybrid fears.

Yes, because it can kill you. There are rational fears and irrational fears. Lightning is extremely dangerous so it is OK to have a "healthy respect" (i.e., fear) of it. A little fear in life is a good thing - it can keep you alive.

Yes, I think it's because when I was little there was a big tree next to my room and I was afraid if lightning hit it it would fall into my room.

No. I love rain and lightning means rain. Exception is when I'm on big, even-leveled areas.
