Not if you are out there and believe it. Anything can be a waste of time. Time is valuable but we should all take the time we have to do simple things like sit there with your children wishing on stars. It is wonderful memories and very romantic ones too.

Well, I really dont believe that all my wishes come true. I always wish when I see a falling star though. It doesnt hurt and its fun.

I think it might promote optimism and hope, sort of like praying, except people do it for fun. Sounds pretty harmless to me. Plus it doesn't take very long.
