I need to restore my iPod Nano (4G, first generation). There are no songs on it so I don't care if all songs and information are whiped off my iPod... however I AM worried that restoring will wipe all information from iTunes as well.

Can someone tell me before I restore if restoring means that iTunes will be empty as well as my iPod?

No, when you restore your iPod Nano to factory settings, as with other iPods, the iTunes library stays intact and as soon as the update finishes the iTunes library will start copying songs back to your iPod (If you have auto-update turned on). if you have "Manually manage songs and playlists" turned on, then it will just stay blank. Either way, clearing your iPod won't touch your library at all.

I got a Nano yesterday for Christmas, but I don't think iTunes will disapper. You should back up all your music files just incase it does though.
