I see Katherine McPhee in more advertising and promotions than I do with grandpa Hicks ... It's not that I'm complaining or anything .

Because the majority of AI voters are like 14 years old and know nothing about real singing talent. They vote for the cute one, or the one who had the coolest outfit, or the one who sang the popular song (even if it wasnt that great or difficult). When you get down to the top 10, you had to have some sort of talent to make it that far, and chances are you will make it sometime, somehow in the entertainment industry. Its almost better for the people who DONT win because they aren tied down to AI for a year and they can do their own thing right away.Thats why they usually do better than the actual winner.

I think pretty much any of the top 5 from each season have a shot at stardom. To have the talent to make it that far and be that popular with the audiences at home, recording studios and advertisers are jumping on the opportunity to have that new, popular face used to advertise or make them money.

well some people just fit what advertisers are looking for. It also might be to great PR, Agent, etc. To be honest, if you're on the Top 10 list of AI, you have the window to become a star. Look at that girl Vanessa on DreamGirls, she's a AI native

Because American Idol owns them for a year. But Carrie Underwood did good in her first year.

Probably because they don't think they have good talent. But they were wrong to vote Ace and Chris off. They were really good.

it's all part of the show gaining recognition, no one is a loser most of them get noticed for their talents by being on the show.
