What would happen if one of the "predators" on there was faking their age... Like say a 16 year old guy was hitting on a 14 year old girl? Couldn't the 16 year old guy's parents sue Dateline NBC for talking about sex with their kid?

I'm sure that this happens too, they just never agree to meet up with them... Isn't this just as bad as what the guys on this show are doing???

The people on this show are bound to be interacting with children online pretending to be adults, and just never meeting up... Shouldn't someone put a stop to this?

I just remember when I was 16, messaging other 16 year old girls...

I mean, don't younger guys still message younger girls online?? They have to be talking to these "decoys."

They have profiles set up saying they are 16, and this doesn't upset parents, that older people are online pretending to be younger and talking to their children?

Don't get me wrong, I don't like those dirty men either, I just think that the way they are going about this is actually promoting it in a way.

It's like fighting discrimination with discrimination, (IE, Affirmative Action)

I enjoy watching this show alot!... and i think those Dirty old men get what they deserve... and that they are gross...and why are you worried about NBC "accidently" chatting with 16 year old lieing about there age?....They should not be lieing about their age neither...plus i strongly believe that if parents monitor what their kids are doing on the computer then it would help with this problem.... Just my opinion!

One thing to note, though, is that Dateline and law enforcement aren't going after those "16-year-old guys"--everyone they've shown and arrested so far are adults.

"I'm sure that this happens too, they just never agree to meet up with them... Isn't this just as bad as what the guys on this show are doing???"

Uh...no.

"The people on this show are bound to be interacting with children online pretending to be adults, and just never meeting up... "

Which is why all the confronting and arresting happens when the adults act on the chat.

whether its fake or not i dint know but at least they are trying to address a very real problem with child pretators. I as o parent, and grandparentthin what-ever anyone can do to get these perverts faces and history out there is a step in the right direction, and having this show brings this cancer to the front to make people aware of faces of these scumbags. AND......that they are our friends. neighbors, teachers doctors. all common people that we would not expect

I have to admit that I had my doubts, so I checked an online sex offender list in Riverside,Ca. which was where one of the places they set up a sting operation and I found one of the guys who they caught so I assume at least that one story was real.

I don't think it is fake. There is way to many youg people being killed by these perverts...and that is why they do these investigations..that is why i rarely go to chat rooms any more.
