Ok, I just had my 1st period. How long will it last??!!!! i've had it since the 23rd. My mom died, so the only person I have to talk to about it is my step mom, but i don't know what to say to her.

Your first period may last up to 7 days, and will probably be very heavy, with lots of blood, cramping, and diarhhea (don't worry, it gets easier).
Do you get along with your step mom? Just pull her aside and tell her "I got my period and I'm not sure what to do next." Or if you're too embarassed to say it, write it on a note and give it to her.
If you don't get along with your step mom, you can always ask the school nurse, your doctor, or your best friend's mom. All women have been through this, so most are pretty understanding about it.
Whoever you talk to, be sure to ask them about feminine products (pads vs tampons), pain relief (motrin, aleve, midol, hot packs), and sex education.

Your period will last for about 5 days. Maybe shorter, maybe longer. It is different for everyone. You really need to start talking to and get comfortable with your step mom. There will be a lot of things in the future you need advice on and this is not the way. Maybe you can talk to the mom of a friend, if you do not get along with your step mom. Good luck

It can last up to 7 days, but this is long for a lot of people. If you have a good relationship with your step mom, go on and let her help you. Just tell her that you need some advice on products that are good for your age, I'm sure she wouldn't mind!
Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that when you first start your period it is common to have the first 12 to 40 cycles be irregular.

Your period can last up to 9 days. I'd say your step mom would feel so blessed if you asked her if you could talk to her about 'girls stuff' in private. She has been there and done that and will probably ease your mind alot. I'm sorry about your mom. Give your step mom a chance and have a 'girls' talk.

First off sorry about your mom and second off welcome to womenhood!
Chances are your step mom already knows, (you live in the same house right?) but she may have fears about bringing it up to you.
You just need to feel comfortable talking to your step mom about anything and everything; sometimes step mom's are easier talking to then biological mothers - I know you wish your mom was here and I wish she were here for you but she is not and we can't change that, I am just trying to say that somethimes step moms try harder and they (most all of them) want a good relationship with their step children and they try very hard to have one no matter what it takes -she'll never be able to replace your mom and the special place you have in your heart for your mom will never be taken up by your step mom and I know you know that but I know the heart is a big place and that there is room in there for her too if you want her to be. It might be a good thing for you to open up to her - Nevere fear telling her anything, just be you and speak your mind! Have respect, don't lie and you'll always have a good relationship with. The more you talk to her now the easier it will be later especially when you really need some women to women coversations when you get older! Best of luck to you all will be fine and well!

Periods generally last 5-7 days. But it differs for people.
I have mine for 4, and my friend has hers for 8-9.
It's nothing to worry about if it's longer than 5-7 days

Hi Sweetie, being your first period it can last a bit longer than usual about 10 days maybe. Talk to your stepmum, she should know the answer. Sorry to hear about your mum I also lost mine, although I am older than you but we always need a mum so it is good to have a good relationship with your stepmother. Good Luck and God Bless

It lasts about 3-7 days. But it can be more or less. My first was 9 days. And at first they can be irregular, I've only had mine once, in the beginning of september. So ya, about 4 months already i've not had it. Good luck!

Well you should come up front to your step mom.....the same way you just asked us ask her the same way..don't be shy it's better to come up front and just ask than just keep it inside.....!!! it will probably last about 4 to 7 days it depends on the person..everybody's diffrent....
