Just tell them you got 2 of them for christmas and the one your not returning was from someone closer to you theyll understand.

I would claim that I got 2 of the smae and that you were returning one for something you did not get. But sometimes honesty is best. But maybe the old it did not fit or the color just isn't me answer would work.

finish the return process and say "love you too" or "I don't love you back, sorry!" or just do it quietly, it all depends on the situation. A friend? An ex? Your mother in law? a not friend anymore?... God Bless.

smile and say 'thanks, I loved it'... its not a crime to return a gift.... and 'everyone' does it... no big deal to me....
