Well, that's more of a personal opinion whether it's hygienic or not. I've had a couple of friends have that done and one thing I am told is that you can't wear tight jeans anymore because of infection. They have to wash ONLY with antibacterial soap because perfume soaps can cause infection. They couldn't have sex for a few months and it takes a little while for the piercing to heal. So if you are thinking about getting this piercing, as I thought about it before, just make sure you are aware of the INCREASED risk of infection. That is why I decided against. Hygiene didn't really have much to do with it but the healing process did and so did the infection part. I got my nipples done and the healing process was horrendously painful so I don't even want to wonder how painful the clit piercing would be.

Many people have all different parts of their body pierced.
I have a few patients with clitoral piercings.
The one thing you have to make sure when you get your clitoris pierced is that the person doing the piercing does the procedure in as a sterile fashion as possible. This involves shaving the hair around the clitoris (actually it is the clitoral hood that is pierced rather than the clitoris itself), using betadine and/or sterile water to cleanse the area. Make sure the piercing instruments are sterile also. Ask questions. Ask about how they clean their instruments (an autoclave, dipping the instruments in alcohol/bleach or whatever else, ask if they use hypo-allergenic posts, rings, etc so you dont have a reaction to the metal.
As long as the procedure is done in a sterile fashion and you keep the area very very clean and wash it everyday until the area heals, there shouldnt be a problem with having your clitoris pierced.
There is always the risk of an infection anytime you have any part of your body pierced however the risk is greater for sensitive mucous membranes like the clitoris, labia, nipples, prince alberts, etc.
I hope this helped answer your question.
Best of luck!

In actuality it is the clitoral hood thats pierced not the clitoris itself. Yes it is fine as long as you keep it clean. Your vagina is the cleanest part of your body anyway. Dispite in what others may tell you. The clitoral piercings causes better orgasms. But be careful when you walk down the street or sit differently you can give yourself the thrill of a lifetime, by just the way it rubs against your nob nob.

If your into BSMD they dig it.
I think it is disgusting and unhealthy.
I have seen several piercings of the pubic, I prefer my girl being natural and smooth.

not only is it not hygienic, it's disfiguring and painful, and you will likely lose the ability to orgasm. Wouldn't recommend it.
