In my 50+ years, I have seen babies get their teeth as early as two months and as late and 8 months. I even had one child who was born with three. It is not one of those things that you can say that your child is this old and should have this many teeth. My Mother always said that the longer it took them to cut them the stronger the tooth. I don't know it that is true or not.

My son's came out at 4 months, which I believe is early. Mine didn't come in until 10 months, so I guess it varies. Usually excessive drooling and biting on fingers are signs of teeth popping thru soon. We keep a teething toy in the freezer for when he needs something to munch on, it helps.

The teeth are little buds already under the gums. The age at which a baby's teeth come through the surface depends. My children started showing their teeth when they were about 4 mos. old. Don't worry. It will happen. Every baby's different.

The first set (the "baby," "milk," "primary" or "deciduous" set) normally starts to appear at about six months of age, although some babies are born with one or more visible teeth, known as neonatal teeth. Normal eruption of teeth starting at about six months is known as teething and can be quite painful for an infant. <><

My MIL would feel my babies gums when he was teething at 4 months and kept saying "Next week for sure", I can feel them right there.

They didn't come through until 6.5 months.
