Just click on start, and go to my computer. It should be showing there. If not, your USB port may not be working.

Click on the My Computer icon. If it's not there, then you'll need to manually change the drive letter. Go to Run Prompt (Start --> Run) and type in compmgmt.msc. When a window opens up, labeled Computer Management, go to the Disk Management node, under Storage tree, and find your USB device. Right-click on the area where Disk 1 or 2, or whatever is for your USB device and choose "Change Drive Letters and Path".

Are you talking about a flashdrive or external hard drive?

When you installed the item, your PC should have told you which drive it was assigning. If you missed it, open My Computer. You will see all drives listed.

Right-cl the drive you want and choose "create shortcut." If it goes to the end of the list instead of to the desktop, simply drag it there.
